WVYC RULES AND REGULATIONS
The success of our activities depends upon your ability, conduct, and enthusiasm. These guidelines are designed to ensure a pleasant environment, maintain a safe and smooth operation, and keep WVYC attractive and enjoyable for all. The following violations will result in progressive disciplinary action in relation to the severity of the infraction, and could cause your dismissal from the station. You should be aware of the seriousness with which the management regards the following violations:
1. THEFT, WILLFUL DAMAGE OR DEFACING OF ANY SCHOOL OR PERSONAL PROPERTY.
2. POSSESSION OR BEING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF RECREATIONAL DRUGS OR ALCOHOL.
3. FIGHTING, INSTIGATING A FIGHT, OR ANY ACT OF VIOLENCE AGAINST ANOTHER PERSON.
4. REFUSING TO FOLLOW ASSIGNMENTS, OR INSTRUCTIONS FROM ANY SUPERVISOR.
5. IMMORAL, LEWD, OR INDECENT CONDUCT, OR POSSESSION OR USE OF ANY WEAPON.
6. PLAGIARISM, SLANDER OR FALSIFICATION OF ANY LOG, REPORT OR DOCUMENT.
7. HARASSMENT OF ANOTHER PERSON BY ANY MEANS. THIS INCLUDES HAZING.
8. REPORTING OF A FALSE EMERGENCY OR FAILURE TO FOLLOW FIRE DRILL PROCEDURES.
9. REFUSAL TO OFFER IDENTIFICATION WHEN REQUESTED BY COLLEGE AUTHORITIES.
10. WILLFUL DISREGARD OF ANY OF THE FOLLOWING RULES AND REGULATIONS.
1. All WVYC staff members are expected to abide by published college rules and regulations as well as any public laws.
2. Eating, drinking or smoking is prohibited in the station at all times.
3. All announcers must maintain a professional attitude while on the air. PROGRAMMING THAT INCITES DISORDERLY CONDUCT OF ANY KIND IS PROHIBITED, (Your freedom of expression is regulated on the public airwaves.)
4. All program logs must be filled out completely and correctly. Errors should be corrected within one week.
The FM announcer is in charge of the station when management is not present.
5. All persons "on the air" are responsible for knowing and following applicable FCC rules and regulations.
ANY PROFANITY OR OTHER INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE OR MEANING IS PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES.
(ALL 287 LISTED WORDS) THIS INCLUDES LANGUAGE ON PRE-RECORDED MATERIAL.
6. All programmers who want to do 'call-in' programs, contests or give away any prize, must have management approval. All callers must be screened before airing, and no one is to be place "on the air" without consent.
7. Any disruptive behavior should be reported to WVYC management or campus security immediately.
8. No more than one guest is allowed in the station after 5:00 PM, and they are the responsibility of the station member. Guests are not allowed in the library at any time and may not use any station equipment.
9. All announcers are responsible for finding qualified replacements in case of absence. Requests for absence must be made at least 24 hours in advance and be approved by the program director or station manager.
10. Department heads are responsible for keeping their areas reasonably neat, clean and for general station supervision.
11. No equipment or software may be removed from the station without permission from the station manager or chief engineer. THIS INCLUDES ALL RECORDS, TAPES, MINIDISCS, & COMPUTER AND COMPACT DISCS.
12. Treat all equipment and software with care and report any malfunctions as soon as possible. Use only equipment that you have been instructed how to use. Do not touch or adjust any other equipment.
13. Students are responsible for the neatness of rooms they are using. Clean up when finished and return all software.
14. No one should open screens or be outside on the roof at any time.
15. All station members must be full-time students, taking Radio Practicum or pay the student activity fee.
16. Students shall never misrepresent WVYC and/or use WVYC's name or equipment for their own personal gain.
17. Keeping in mind that WVYC is our station, please act responsibly and exercise collegiate common sense at all times.
