Located inside the spacious Music, Art & Speech Communication Center,
the television studio comprises two state-of-the-art video production facilities
coordinated by a high-tech computer assisted room. The MAC building houses
two AB roll edit suites for DVcam and three-quarter-inch equipment. Students

fully operational News Studio. It includes a breath-taking news set, interview
areas and weather capabilities. The MAC facilities also include up-to-date
Mackie® audio, three independent control rooms, and a Snell and Wilcox®

Radio
Station/Audio Facilities
The
department operates an extensive radio/audio studio facility. Students,
both majors in communication and majors in other areas of the college,
may participate in many of the facility's operations.
The studios of York College
consist of an AM production control room, FM production control room, a
control room designated for instructional use only, a super studio and
audio library. The facility's day-to-day operations are run by students;
including student managers and department heads.
WVYC-FM broadcasts to the
York College and greater York communities. Programming is eclectic in nature
including many of the contemporary rock formats, news, sports, public service
and educational programming. Students are active in all parts of the station's
activities from management to production to on-air announcing.
WVYC-AM is a closed-circuit
facility whose signal is available to the York College campus on 640 AM
and on Channel 7 of the
campus cable television system .
Students interested in radio will usually begin their experience in this
facility. Like its twin, WVYC-FM, the AM station carries a full complement
of programs and is operated by students at all levels.
Studios and control rooms
are also used for instruction for courses such as Radio Production I, Radio
Production II and Audio Production.
Students learn both analogue and digital
editing and recording techniques in this facility.
